"It's one of the most beautiful discoveries at the end of the year" - Pierre Crochart, NOWPLAYING

Emotional romance visual novel about life purpose and God.

When Haruki Kishimoto, a seventeen year-old highschooler, one day encounters recent American transfer student, Katie, they form a life-changing friendship, all while something much more sinister is taking place in the background...

  • An emotional, 3-5 hour long tale of an unlikely friendship between two teenagers
  • A philosophical message about life purpose and accepting God
  • A masterfully-crafted jazz soundtrack
  • A unique turn-based battle system
  • Ultra-stylish UI

Often sarcastic seventeen year-old Kishimoto takes on a rather serious and regularly cynical demeaner, though is very caring and wishes for everyone to be treated fairly. His life forever changes when he meets Katie Walsh at school.

Someone who couldn't be less similar to Kishimoto if they tried, Fujinami is constantly unserious about absolutely everything. The only thing you could say that he's at least somewhat serious about, is the "friendship" he retains between him and Kishimoto.

Katie: the recent American transfer student at the school Kishimoto attends. She can't speak Japanese and thus is constantly alone at school. A very caring and bubbly girl.

I'll give it 5 stars for it's all around immersive story,  especially at the very end, where Kishimoto finally remembers his best friend😆

Haha, thank you so much! I really enjoyed your YouTube series on it!!

I have played games like Choices and Episodes before, but this is my first time reading a visual novel.

The concept and plot were interesting, and the characters seemed pretty well-developed. I particularly enjoyed the part where the protagonist tries to communicate with Katie.

However, a few bits felt too unnatural and extreme to me, like the part about Tokyo.

All in all, it was quite unique and definitely amazing!

PS: Now I feel even more motivated to write my first visual novel. Thank you.

Yep, definitely agree with this. I think I pulled the character development off really well, and I really enjoy how the characters interact. (Other people have told me so too)

Personally, I think the biggest mistake with this one was with the underutilisation of the concept. The eighth day is an idea I really like, but I feel like that not only is the whole thing kinda just explained all at once, but it's also not really used as much as it should in a game called "Eighth Day Kishimoto-kun".

I also think the ending could've used some work. I feel like it should've been a little happier and more conclusive.

And yeah, 100% agree with you saying that some stuff is sort of exaggerated. Most of the time it's for comedic effect, and it works then, but yeah, stuff like the Tokyo arc don't make much sense.

But yeah, I really like the characters and their development in this one, and that's really the most important thing in a slice-of-life story.

(Also, good luck with your game!)

Wow!! The soundtrack is phenomenal: a nice mix of soothing jazz and bittersweet synth. The upbeat tracks capture that "good day feeling" well, and the melancholic tracks are a great fit for the exploration of purpose. I will certainly look forward to your future composition work!

I liked the story! The main three characters balance each other well, and Kishimoto's gradual drift towards connection and friendship is heartwarming. The prose is good, and the fantastical elements are a fun addition to the game's themes.

My only negative note is that the ending was quite baffling to me; the stakes seemed a bit extreme, and I'm not sure how well it fits with the rest of the story.

Regardless, I really enjoyed this kinetic novel. It's a fantastic showcase of your skills as a composer and writer.

Great work!

100% agree with your claims here and really appreciate your feedback!

The first half of the game is something I'm very proud of and don't see much need for improvement, though the second half, while not awful, is needlessly rushed and way too fast.

While I personally like the ending, I can understand why some might not, considering the first half of the game is mainly just slice-of-life containing comedic banter between the characters and Kishimoto's introspective inner monologues.

This was my first time writing a proper story and I've improved a lot since and the next visual novel that I'm currently working on is definitely going to be a lot better! Though I definitely want to come back to this story some day and maybe even re-write it, as I think the concept is creative and the characters are likeable. Maybe I could slow the pace down, make the game longer, have the eighth day be a bigger part of the story and introduce more characters as the game goes along!

I'm beyond happy that you not only played my game and enjoyed it, but also took time to leave such valuable feedback!

Thanks!
